First Day in Paris

July 14th was our first full day in Paris. We ended up spending quite a little piece of time in metro stations while in Paris. As you would expect in any big city some were better (cleaner) than others. The set up reminded me of others I had used so that helped when it came to navigation.

We spent our first morning in Versailles. It was very beautiful and we had good weather. We were able to arrive fairly early and beat some of the crowds but like most things, there was a line to wait in.

After Versailles we went back to a McDonald's we spotted near the train station. They had "easy ordering" where you could punch in your order from pictures - I used that - seemed easier. Some things were different, some the same but all in all it was quite a "fancy" McDonald's.

Then we went to the Orsay Museum - where no photos were allowed. If the girls were paying attention they should be able to tell you about seeing such greats as Renoir, Gauguin, Monet, Seyssand, Van Gough (including his self portrait), Degas (including his Tiny Dancer sculpture), Cezanne, and Whistler's Grandmother.

After leaving the Orsay we walked for a while and went over a bridge where hundreds of people of put locks to forever remember their time in Paris, their true love, or some other significant event. Most of the girls put a lock on the bridge while we were there and then one key went into the river.
